Frank Mazzuca

Frank Roger Mazzuca, Sr. (1922 - 9 September 2009[1]) was a Canadian politician and businessman in Capreol, Ontario. As a young man Mazzuca went to work for CN Rail where he was a brakeman for 37 years.[2] In 1950 he opened Mazzuca Furniture & Appliance Co which is still a going concern.[3] Frank Mazzuca served as mayor of Capreol from 1975 to 1998, when he was elected chairman of the Regional Municipality of Sudbury in a byelection following the death of Peter Wong. He served as the final chair of the regional municipality, which was amalgamated into the current city of Greater Sudbury in 2001, and was succeeded as mayor of Capreol by Dave Kilgour.

Frank Mazzuca was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002.[4]

During the City of Greater Sudbury's deamalgamation debate in 2006, Mazzuca was a bluntly outspoken advocate of holding a referendum.[5] The community newspaper Northern Life quoted Mazzuca as saying that "It was a great thing to call up the mayor and say, 'A dog shit on my lawn, what are you going to do about it?' When they'd call me I'd tell them, 'Not my dog, not my lawn, not my shit.'"[5]
